About the Tea Haus…

A cobblestone cottage nestled in a remote woodland setting, the Tea Haus perches perfectly between whimsy and tranquility, wonder and warmth.

We provide a cheerful respite for romantic getaways and families, as well as digital nomads in need of a recharge.

A vintage taxidermy collection, a gallery of windows, hand-painted murals and indulgent treats await you alongside natural fiber bedding and organic personal care products.

Visiting the Tea Haus is like stumbling onto a fairytale treasure trove in the pine forest.

Ancient stone exterior and fireplace, Scandinavian-inspired woodwork, folk and fine art combine to transport you to another time and place.

We pride ourselves on offering what the Swedish call “Lagom,"

and Goldlilocks called “Just Right."

Inside

Entryway

Converted from a utility room and storage loft, our double-height entry area has bench seating and ample storage room for any gear you bring.

A perfect transition space from outdoor activities into a “Hygge,"cozy mode.

Great Room

The central chamber of the cottage is an open-concept area with a dining table in the center.

Gallery kitchen, beverage amenities, and sleeping areas are situated around the perimeter.

Two twin-bed sleeping nooks flank either end of the the kitchen/dining area.

Open shelves house a majority of our utensils and amenities, while additional supplies are available in a folk art-painted hutch.

Tea, coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, sparkling water, and non-alcoholic cordials are available for all guests at all times alongside several jars of sweet treats and whole-shell nuts for cracking by hand.

Bedroom

Our bedroom offers a relaxing minimalist space with elegant adornment and a king-size bed.

All beds in the Tea Haus are comprised of organic mattresses with either wool or bamboo toppers and organic cotton or linen sheets and duvets.

Pendleton wool blankets may lie atop the beds or may be hung in the bedroom closet depending on the season, alongside extra pillows and bedding.

Two bathrobes are available in the closet for guest use.

Our bathroom is located within the primary suite, behind a closet. There is no door between the bedroom and bathroom. Please note that guests ought to have a reasonable amount of comfort with one another, as this is an intimate, European-style set up.

Sunroom

Our four-season sunroom is the crown jewel of the Tea Haus!

A converted porch, the pine-clad room enjoys views on all sides of the surrounding woods.

Wild turkeys, deer, owls, partridges, and kestrels appear with regularity and suspect the property in fact belongs to them.

We have also hosted several black bears and a moose enjoying a woodland stroll. Our sunroom runs on a mini-split climate control system to offer you air conditioning in summer and a bit of extra warmth in the winter.

Bathroom

The Leporine Latrine is a tiny room that packs a major punch!

The small space is decked out ceiling-to-floor in rabbit-themed designs which bring levity and laughter to the most routine daily activities.

Organic products from Public Goods as well as organic personal hygiene products are available.

Our shower light offers Red Light Therapy although the bathroom itself has several lighting options and a makeup mirror on the window for optimal application.

We had a guest love our carrot mural so much that she hired us to duplicate it in the bathroom of her cafe on the midcoast. Bonus points to anyone who recognizes our carrot from Dot’s in Lincolnville, Maine!

The Great Outdoors

Our Property

Children, pets and parents alike will enjoy the safety of a fenced-in front yard with views of the local Mahoosuc mountain range.

Native and perennial garden beds delight the senses during spring, summer and fall as hummingbirds visit the bathroom window, pollinators dance along our small stream and fun-size frogs happily hop amongst yarrow and thyme.

A seasonally-available firepit and outdoor seating area are accessible from front and sideyards, as well as directly from the sunroom. We provide grilling amenities as well as a bocce and croquet.

***Special Note***

In our efforts toward sustainable pest management, two barn cats reside at the Tea Haus property. They are disinterested in people and pets, and have their own living quarters separated from the house. Please don’t seek them out as they are ‘working cats’ and don’t enjoy company.

Microchip entries into their quarters, cameras, automatic feeders and regular neighbor wellness checks have all been arranged for them, so if you are lucky enough to spot Bonnie or Clyde, there's no need to wonder for their well-being. They are living their dream!
